Our 7 application program benefits your lawn when all 7 treatments can be applied at the correct time of the season, so depending on when you start the program will depend on the results from the treatment along with proper maintenance and care. We encourage new customers to allow time to see results (full 7 treatments). Customers that do not receive the timely pre-emergent treatments early in the year before spring/summer and late in the year before fall/winter can expect a certain level of seasonal weeds. Many of these weeds will have to die off naturally at the end of their season and should be easier controlled the following season by the treatment being applied at the correct time.
Watering: During the warm growing season water your grass heavily (1-1 ½ in per zone) once a week. It takes approximately 624 gallons of water to equal one inch of rain water on 1000 square feet ( 10,000sq ft lawn = 6,240gl). It is very important to measure your irrigation system so you know how much water you are getting on each zone. If we are in a dry period with high temperatures this should keep your lawn alive and looking good but if you want lush green growth during these conditions you may need to double or triple your watering times. During fall and winter we usually receive adequate rain but we encourage you to water if you run into a dry spell and of course to water in a treatment. Most treatments need to be watered in within 7 days for best results if no rain and before removing any material from the lawn (clippings/leaves).
Mowing: You can mow after most treatments as long as you drop the clippings (do not bag) or water (rain) first. We encourage you to mulch the clippings 2 or 3 times after an application so any beneficial material is not carried off the lawn. Mow cool season turf like tall fescue at 3 ½ – 4 inches. Mow warm season turf (bermuda-zoysia) at 1 – 2 ½ inches. Be sure to leave a taller protective canopy on your warm season turf at the end of September, this will help with weeds the following March and help protect the root system during dormancy.
Weeds: Present annual weeds in your lawn will take time (several weeks) and may take multiple treatments to see results so it is best to be patient. Perennial weeds will need to be handled differently depending on the weed type. Please read the program description which explains what is included in your treatment price.
